Day 2 - Get lost

How many times a day do you THINK about it? "It" being whatever the crisis is at the moment. How many times do you TAKE-IN information about it? How many times a day do you TALK about it?

When we are in a crisis, it's so easy to completely focus on the situation at hand. We're trying to find solutions. We're worried. We're checking in on how people are feeling about the situation. We're watching the news. Even not focusing on it can cause us to focus on it. We can get lost in anxiety. One of the ways to I've learned to combat it, is to get lost in something else.

Those who know me, know that I LOVE music. Music for me is an experience. I have hundred of thousands of favorite songs. People can literally say anything and my brain starts singing probably 6 songs at the same time. I love singers. I love instruments. I love dancers. I love watching movies about music. Above all of that, I love to experience music. I love to sing! I love to play the piano! I love to play the viola! I love to play just about any instrument I can get my hands on event if I'm not good at it. I love to dance! I just love music. It's the something I love. The something I get lost in. I don't know an hour of my life without. Actually, I lied........

About two years ago I lost my love for it. I couldn't listen to it, I didn't have that spark when watching it, and I had no heart to even sing!!!!! And let me tell you something.... my anxiety was through the roof! That every moment of the day filled with music was replaced with anxiety. I literally tried everything to get back that spark. Then one day, one of my mentors started singing over me (which means she was singing what she felt God was saying to me but sharing it through song). It was like standing under a shower..... I couldn't stop listening..... All of a sudden that spark was back. I wasn't singing yet but that would come over time. It took me trying. It took me pushing into what I love until it worked.....Now I have a record player (YES I'M OLD), a thousand speakers and headphones, and I play everything I can. I absolutely love it.

Why am I sharing this? Because anxiety will strip you from what you love. During a crisis, find what you love. Put as much energy as you can towards it. If you don't know what you love, find it. Think back to when you were a child and think about what brought you joy and start there. Connect with someone who loves what you do or loves when you are doing what you love. You don't have to be good at it LOL. I decided to share a video that I play every now and again to remind me of what I love.

So I'm going to ask again, how many times a day do you THINK about it, TAKE-IN information about it, and TALK about it? Add that time up.....now cut that in half and put the extra time and energy into something you love.
